A visual vault

Updated: Mar 6

Check with any experienced photographer, they will most likely have a folder of reference images - each frame has something that caught their eye - could be the use of light, colour, composition or perspective. These are usually meant to assist the artist when they are thinking of how to make an image of their own ... a creative catalyst of sorts.

I have followed a similar approach of collecting images in the context of our home design.

In the image alongside, the irregular inner and side edges the stone steps provide space for small flowering plants to add a touch of colour ! It's so much easier to convey the result one is looking for with a picture. Architects need to get a fix on their clients preferences - this process can help. I liked the raw slices of wood framed on the walls in the second image.

So, the images one collates can truly cover a wide gamut of elements - one might like a single or multiple elements in an image, or simply a concept that a particular element evokes in you that may be unrelated to the image itself !
